Skelebenz (Cyclobenzaprine) is a prescription skeletal muscle relaxant used to treat pain, stiffness, and muscle spasms, typically in conjunction with rest and physical therapy.

Skelebenz 15 mg (Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride ER) is an extended-release version of the skeletal muscle relaxant. Because this is the 15 mg capsule, it is designed to release the medication slowly over a 24-hour period, which changes the dosing schedule compared to the standard tablets.

Its main component is Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride (15 mg).It acts on the brain stem within the central nervous system (CNS). It reduces tonic somatic motor activity, which basically means it dials down the overactive nerve signals that cause muscles to stay tight and spasmed. It relaxes the muscle without interfering with actual muscle function.

HOW TO TAKE

Usually one capsule once daily, taken at the same time each day.

Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush or chew it, as this would destroy the extended-release mechanism and release all the medicine at once.

If you have trouble swallowing, you can open the capsule and sprinkle the beads onto a spoonful of applesauce. Swallow immediately without chewing the beads, then rinse your mouth and swallow the water.

Skelebenz can be taken with or without food.

MISSED DOSE

Take it as soon as you have remembered, but skip it if your next dose is less than 12 hours away.

SIDE EFFECTS

Because the 15 mg dose is released over time, side effects may last longer.

The common ones include extreme drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness and fatigue, feeling lightheaded or unusually tired, nausea, constipation, or upset stomach.

WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS

Do not use Skelebenz if you have heart rhythm disorders, heart failure, or have recently had a heart attack.

Do not take Skelebenz if you have used an MAO inhibitor (like phenelzine or selegiline) in the last 14 days, as this can cause a fatal reaction.

Avoid alcohol entirely. It dangerously increases the sedative effects of the medication.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Store Skelebenz at room temperature (around 25°C), away from moisture, heat, and direct light. Keep it out of reach of your children.
